Farnborough College Opened by Minister

On Monday 21st December 2009 the new Aerospace and Automotive Academy was successfully handed over to our client at Farnborough College of Technology. The final two weeks of the project were integrated with a full client fit-out programme of engineering equipment installation which when complete enabled the building to be up and running for a full curriculum programme from 5th January 2010 as planned.

The successful handover culminated in a formal opening of the building and champagne reception on 12th January 2010 which was attended by approximately 50 delegates from various sectors of industry and education who were attending a business forum at the College. The forum attendees included the Minister for Defence Equipment and Support, Quentin Davies MP and the Minister for the South East of England, Jonathan Shaw MP along with the College Principal, Christine Davis and key members of the client’s team. In attendance from Warings were George Edward (Senior Project Manager), Nigel Wood (Site Manager) and Mike Deavin (Construction Director) who formally handed over a symbolic key to the building to the Minister for the South East of England and said a few words on behalf of Warings and the Construction Team.

The Warings team was thanked and praised for the effort put into producing a high quality engineering facility, indeed one senior college member commented on the quality, size and space likening it to a palace compared to the facilities that they have been used to in recent years. Particular mention was given to the efforts of Nigel Wood who managed the day to day running of the project with great diligence and effort from the outset.
