The Victory School, Paulsgrove Awarded Ecosite LabelOn Tuesday 15th June 2010, the VictorySchool site at Paulsgrove, Portsmouth was awarded the Ecosite label by Philippe Bonnave Deputy CEO of Bouygues Construction at a ceremony attended by representatives from Portsmouth City Council and Mr. Peter Sykes the Headmaster of the new school. This label recognises the commitment of all those involved in the project to protecting the environment.
The Ecosite label, which forms part of Bouygues Construction’s sustainable development policy was granted following an audit conducted on the basis of the following 11 criteria: analysis of environmental risks, waste management, hazardous products, reduction of site noise, air quality, the quality of the aquatic environment, conservation of biodiversity, reduction of energy consumption, cleanliness and tidiness, communications and handling of emergency situations. Using these 11 criteria as a basis, Bouygues Construction has defined the environmental standards that must be met, derived from the most stringent national regulations and exemplary practices observed within the Group.
To achieve these environmental protection targets the project team were commended for their waste segregation and their communication with neighbours and other stakeholders.
The Victory School is the first Warings project to receive this award and only the third in the UK.
The Victory School is a £7.5m primary school which is scheduled to complete next month.
