RIDDOR Reportable FREE achievement

The business is proud to report the achievement of a significant milestone in our Health and Safety Performance. We can confirm at the close of Quarter 2 2010 we have operated for over 12 consecutive months without a UK RIDDOR Reportable accident. This has been achieved through everybody playing their part in demonstrating through our attitudes and actions a belief in our business core values, "Respect for People - Never compromising on safety".

·         0 in .2.1m hours ( 15 consecutive months to date) reportable free

·         1 in 4m hours since May 2008.(1 in 25 months to date)

·         the cumulative and actual AFR is 0.00

·         the cumulative and actual IFR is 0.00

·         all workplaces are Reportable free

 

In addition we have also achieved the following: - 

 

·         Zero > 1 day lost accidents for our direct and agency tradesmen for over 3 years.

·         Zero > 1 day lost time accidents this year to date ( including all staff, direct, agency and sub contractors)

·         Exceeding our year on year targets for the reduction of eye and hand injuries.

 

In recognition of our business performance we were a finalist in the 2010 Construction News for small company category.

 

Our mission moving forward is to ensure we do not have any accidents within our business. As part of this we need to adhere to and demonstrate a belief in the actions below;  

 

Safeguard our attitude and not become complacent, everybody must focus on building upon our achievements by playing their part, in doing the following: -

 

·         Ensuring we demonstrate respect for people and safeguard their safety

·         Demonstrating our individual and team competence at all times when implementing the system.

·         Reporting all incidents/accidents

·         Reporting near misses

·         Correcting poor standards

·         Challenging all unsafe acts and displays of poor attitude

·         Challenging all unsafe conditions

·         Always making time to consider the health and safety consequences of our actions

·         Always ask for advice if in doubt

 

and last but not least remember at all times -

 

The standard of safety you demonstrate is your standard

Your actions will influence others; so

Set standards that you will be praised for.

 

We are currently drafting the next step in our HS performance continuous improvement plan: targets and key points will be announced at the next staff briefing.
